Leeward Energy: Stop Highland Wind Farm, Allow Generations Of Families To Stay In Homes
For updated information visit this website: https://forestwindtruth.org/
Dozens in a tiny Wisconsin town are under threat of having to move away from where their families have lived for generations due to the possible building dozens of wind turbines! Many people living around this beautiful, rural area will be forced to leave their homes and lives because this landscape is about to be ruined, and their health could be at risk.
โWhat is needed among the scientific community, local and national governmental agencies, and political leaders, is honest discourse about methods for reducing carbon emissions in ways that do not turn some rural communities into sacrifice zones.โ -Punch & James, Wind turbine noise and human health
The town of Forest in Wisconsin has concerns over the end results of the Highland Wind Farm. Forest has spent more than half-a-million dollars fighting the project at the Public Service Commission. This petition’s purpose is to raise awareness about the negative consequences of wind turbines and help Forest in its fight to protect its residents.
Do you remember the story Horton Hears a Who? In the classic by Dr. Seuss, Horton the Elephant hears a small speck of dust talking to him. He later discovers the speck is home to a community called Whoville. The Mayor of Whoville asks Horton to protect them from harm, which Horton happily agrees to, proclaiming throughout the book that “a personโs a person, no matter how small.”
That story can be compared similarly to what the tiny farming town of Forest has been battling for more than a decade. The town in St. Croix County has only 600 people. The $250 Million dollar project would lead to 44, nearly 500 ft. wind turbines in the Forest area. In a back and forth that has lasted more than 10 years the Wisconsin Public Service Commission approved the plan. The Wisconsin State Court of Appeals and the State Supreme Court have denied Forestโs appeals. Now Forest is exploring all of its options to stop the project from happening.
The town is not against green energy, it is against the long-term harm the turbines could bring to its citizens.
- Headaches
- Insomnia
- Anxiety
- Nausea
Those health impacts have been documented in several personal accounts of people living by turbines currently and by scientific research. Please click this link to read more.
Shirley Wind Farm:
- In 2011 8 turbines were installed in Brown County. In 2014, due to the massive amount of health complaints, the Brown County board of health declared a โhuman health hazard.โ At least 3 families vacated their homes because they couldnโt take the impacts of the wind turbines. Dozens more have publicly testified about the impacts of the turbines.

Falmouth, MA Wind Turbines:
- Wind 1 and Wind 2, which went online in 2010 and 2012, respectively, were the subject of nine lawsuits by abutters during their operation. Neighbors complained about a long list of turbine-related health effects including insomnia, anxiety, nausea and even thoughts of suicide.
- Wind 1 was shut down in September 2015 after the Falmouth Zoning Board of Appeals issued a cease-and-desist order. Wind 2 was shut down in June 2017, after Barnstable County Superior Court Judge Cornelius J. Moriarty II upheld the zoning board of appealsโ decision deeming the turbines a nuisance.
- The turbines are currently offline to eventually be relocated.

Those are just two of several examples from around the world of how wind turbines have turned towns upside down. In Brown County, there were EIGHT, in Falmouth, there were TWOโฆ in Forest, there would be FORTY-FOUR.
Shouldn’t a change that could massively impact the quality of life in your town be up to the residents and NOT the state? Please sign this petition to tell the Wisconsin Public Service Commission it should listen to Forest, and keep the turbines OUT!
